Hi-Tech Says Its Whey-Derived IGF-1 Supplement Goes Nationwide, But No Trial Data Accompanies It

Hi-Tech Pharmaceuticals has announced the Phase 2 nationwide launch of PRO IGF-1, a dietary supplement the company describes as the first actual IGF-1 peptide sold in supplement form, extracted from whey protein.

IGF-1, or insulin-like growth factor 1, is a hormone the body produces naturally in the liver in response to growth hormone from the pituitary. The company describes it as a single chain of 70 amino acids with three disulfide bridges, at its highest levels during childhood and adolescence, and notes that growth hormone does not build muscle directly but signals the release of IGF-1 that does the downstream work.

The extraction number

The one hard figure in the release is 175 micrograms per 100 grams, which Hi-Tech says is the amount of IGF-1 its molecular biological technique pulls from whey and which it calls a substantial amount. There is no comparison figure: no baseline for untreated whey, no competing method, nothing to tell a reader whether 175 ug/100g is a breakthrough or a rounding error.

Why the delivery system matters to the pitch

Orally dosed peptides usually get digested before they do anything, and the release acknowledges the problem by leaning hard on the answer. Hi-Tech says its proprietary Cyclosome liposomal coating lets IGF-1 bypass digestion, cross the bowel wall and remain bioavailable at the cellular level, and claims the system makes IGF-1 and other nutrients up to 1,500 percent more bioavailable.

That figure comes from the company, in the company's own announcement, with no cited study behind it. The release also says studies suggest IGF-1 peptides are stable and can be absorbed in the GI tract by neonates, which is not the same population as adult supplement buyers.

What is not in the announcement

No clinical trial, no published data, no named researcher. The performance language, that IGF-1 has found favor among athletes because it is believed to make them bigger, faster and stronger, and that it may boost muscle, reduce fat and improve endurance, is framed as belief rather than finding, and the release does not attach an outcome study to any of it.

Bottom line

This is a product announcement, and it reads like one. The interesting question is whether an orally delivered whey-derived IGF-1 peptide survives digestion in measurable amounts in adults, and that question is exactly the one the announcement does not answer.
